Tourism sector should “rebound"

The tourism sector should “rebound next year” amid vaccine hopes according to minister Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has said that she expects the tourism sector to rebound next year, especially if a vaccine for the coronavirus can be found.

In a press interview at the weekend, the minister said that growth was already starting to begin, however, the recovery of the tourism sector is still not uniform across the country, with some regions suffering more than others.

The wide-ranging interview also discussed the planned closure of Nissan’s manufacturing plants in Barcelona, and the Government’s plans to reduce the impact of the closures.

During her interview she said there were hopes that Seat would develop their presence in the region after parent company VW announced a €5bn investment in the Spanish car brand.
