More tests increase Spain's new infection figures

The ministry of health announced it has doubled the amount of testing carried out on people suspected of having the coronavirus.

Between 40,000 and 47,000 tests are being done daily, meaning over 930,000 have now been tested for the virus.

The increase in the volumes of tests is why the number of infections has risen, according to Health Minister Salvador Illa. The current number of cases in Spain now stands at over 182,000. However, 74,797 of those have recovered from the virus.

Healthcare professionals account for 15% of all infections.
